Utah Route 12 Scenic Byway

We had only intended to visit Zion Valley and Bryce Canyon  in Utah and then go on to see the Grand Canyon back in Arizona.  But Utah turned out to be such a wonderful surprise, with so many beautiful things to see, that we decided to go a bit further eastward and took Route 12 - titled Scenic Byway.

This is of a recess in the rock face where the Indians thousands of years back used to have baskets where they kept stores, such as grain.

Here are just a few of the many, many photos we took along the way.

And this is one of the most picturesque of the national park campgrounds where we stayed, no showers notwithstanding.  It is in the Calf Creek recreation area where camping costs $7.00.  Andrew took a 6 mile hike here following the creek leading to a 126 ft high waterfall.
