Las Vegas

From the sublime to the ridiculous.  From Death Valley we arrived at Las Vegas today - and it is a sight to behold!

Here is the replica of the Eiffel Tower in front of the Paris Casino complete with an imitation Arc de Triomphe which, if you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see on the right hand side.  The other buildings are also copies of famous Parisian sites, as is the interior decor.

Caesar's Palace.  To compete with the Eiffel Tower, we are told Caesar's is building a giant Ferris wheel which will be taller than the tower and will include individual gondolas which will rotate slowly while people dine inside each gondola.  Currently, Caesar's Palace occupies an enormous space with a forum shopping complex and various other imitations of Roman style buildings.

Belaggio's Casino, designed to imitate Belaggio around Lake Como in Italy.  The fountains in the lake come alive at regular intervals to dance to recorded music

This is at the Venetian Palazzo with imitation Grand Canal and gondolas.

Inside the shopping center at Planet Hollywood where the "sky" changes colour as the day progresses.

Incidentally, we are parked in their under ground spacious car park and doubt that we will get out before the morning...............

A particularly attractive ceiling decoration that I wanted to capture for the blog.Posted by Picasa
